Psalms 74
Jun 2, 2025 • Pastor Manning
The people of God in this psalm lament the dire condition of the Church, to the extent that the very name of Israel was nearly extinguished. From their humble supplications, it is clear that they attribute all the calamities they endure to their own sins; however, they simultaneously present to God his covenant, by which he chose the descendants of Abraham as his special people. They then recall how powerfully and gloriously he had, in days of old, displayed his might in delivering his Church. Drawing encouragement from this remembrance, they beseech Him to come to their aid at last, to remedy such a deplorable and desperate situation.
