Psalms 86

Psalm 86 shows us that deliberate praise is not a reaction to circumstances but a conscious choice to honor God for who He is. David, surrounded by need and trouble, intentionally lifts his voice in worship, declaring God’s greatness, mercy, and steadfast love. This is praise that springs from the will, not just the emotions—a decision to exalt God’s name in every season. In verse 12, David says, “I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart,” revealing that deliberate praise requires focus, sincerity, and a full-hearted commitment. It is an act of aligning our perspective with God’s truth, declaring His worth above our worries, and choosing to magnify His faithfulness until our hearts catch up with our words.
