Psalm 69

May 27, 2025    Pastor Manning

This psalm bears a striking similarity to the twenty-second. In the initial verses, David laments the brutal cruelty of his enemies and the severe injustices they have inflicted on him. However, he insists that such distress does not prevent him from patiently depending on God’s protection or remaining committed to leading a holy and upright life. Instead, he asserts that his piety and the courage he has shown in upholding divine glory have led to the hostility he faces from most people. Having once again expressed his feelings of being cruelly and shamefully oppressed by his enemies, he calls on God to deliver appropriate punishment to them. In conclusion, filled with joy as if he had achieved his deepest desires, he vows to offer God a solemn sacrifice of praise.
