Psalm 26

26:11, 12. Love without fear

•These two verses clearly show a godly person's profession. The first element is integrity, which means being wholehearted. David is committed to this path by changing the tense from ‘I have walked’ to ‘I (will) walk.’ This reflects loyalty, not self-righteousness. The second element is deep humility: acknowledging one's inability to manage without help (redeem me) and recognizing unworthiness to claim it as a right (be gracious). The third element is assurance because no one pleads or trusts in vain. The psalm starts defensively, aware of the opposition, but ends with praise and joy, joining the voices of many fellow believers, as 'congregation' is plural here.
